Environmental Management System
Our ISO 14001:2004 accredited Environmental Management System enables us to monitor our environmental performance and achieve demanding environmental performance objectives.

We are committed to minimising the impacts of our operations on the environment by means of a programme of continuous improvement. This programme of targets and objectives to improve our environmental impact is set and regularly reviewed by our Senior Management.

Waste and Recycling
We have a comprehensive recycling programme in place in that includes paper, card, plastic, wood and electrical equipment. .

Energy Efficiency
We are committed to reducing energy usage across our operations. As part of our Environmental Management System, we have implemented an energy efficiency programme that includes fitting monitoring equipment on boilers and a turn off equipment campaign.

Delivery
Corporate Express uses route analysis technology to optimise vehicle efficiency and reduce mileage.

Our drivers are encouraged, through good driving techniques, to maintain economic fuel consumption. When purchasing vehicles, we also take into consideration all European regulations, CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency. We also maintain our vehicles in accordance to manufacturers’ recommended standards, therefore reducing the risk of unnecessary pollution.

In addition, Corporate Express uses double deck delivery trailers to maximise the efficiency of each journey. We also have a policy of backhauling where possible to reduce the mileage of our fleet.

Products

We offer an extensive choice of environmentally friendly products – more than 1,000 in our 2007 catalogue. These are marked with an environmentally friendly 'ecoffice' logo and are comprised of products that are recycled, energy efficient, biodegradable, non-toxic, rechargeable, remanufactured, recyclable, from a sustainable source or designed to last longer.

Our products are delivered in boxes made of recycled materials and whenever possible, factory cartons are used for full case shipments. Bags and envelopes are used for small items or orders, and our distribution centres use software that automatically selects the optimal size box for every shipment to minimise waste.

Customers
We believe it's important to educate our customers about environmentally sound and cost-effective buying and recycling practices so that they can integrate them into their daily business routine. We are proud to provide a choice of eco-friendly office supplies that companies can feel good about purchasing, as well as recycling.

In addition to our environmental products, our Business Solutions Catalogue is printed on paper from a sustainable source. However, to limit the number of catalogues we print, we encourage you to order online, and to consolidate orders where possible to reduce the environmental impact of deliveries and packaging.

A Corporate Express representative can visit your location and recommend green product substitutions. Using sophisticated reporting tools, we can also help you track the number and type of environmental products you purchase.

Cartridge Recycling Programme
Corporate Express can help you recycle your empty laser toner and inkjet cartridges – free of charge. Just order the free recycling box, place the empty cartridges in the collection box and when full, collection can be arranged (see the side of the collection box for details).

For recycling inkjet cartridges, place the empty cartridge in the tray and box of your chosen replacement cartridge for protection, pop it into one of our free, reply paid envelopes, and post it. We’ll do the rest.

All recycled cartridges are picked up by authorised waste carriers.
